Welcome to Alvin
Alvin is located in the northeastern Brazoria County, just 25 miles from the hustle and bustle of Houston and minutes away from the sandy beaches of the Texas Gulf Coast.
We are proud of our cowtown heritage and love to share it with our visitors. Our humble beginnings started in 1845 when the first family settled in what is now known as Alvin. The area continued to prosper and the City of Alvin was incorporated in 1893.
From great accommodations to a day full of exploring, your adventure in Alvin is about to begin. We can take you back in time as you visit our museums and historical homes or take you on a journey through the career of baseball legend Nolan Ryan at the Nolan Ryan Exhibit Center. Feel one of Nolan’s pitches first hand! Stop by Froberg’s Farms and experience a family tradition of raising and selling the best vegetables and fruit in the area. In the spring you can pick your own strawberries and the general store is amazing! We have many other treasures in Alvin, such as Stanton’s, a real blast from the past with a gift shop, grocery, and feed store all in one. Shimek’s Garden is an award winning garden with beautiful flowers in bloom in the spring. Take a walk on the wild side at Bayou Wildlife Park or spend the day antiquing all about town and at our 55,000 sq. ft. antique mall. Oh and don’t forget about our unique boutiques like The Label and It’s a Bling Thing to name a few.
Alvin has something for everyone! We are tickled to have you as a guest and hope you truly enjoy yourself here in Alvin!
Partnering with the CVB looks different this year!
Apply for Hotel Occupancy Tax funds through the CVB:
There is now a streamlined way of applying for Hotel Occupancy Tax funds through an application and committee process. Please use the HOT Funding Application Form to complete your funding request. Applications are due by August 7, 2017 and will be reviewed for eligibility by the HOT Committee. You will be notified of the meeting time and location when your application is up for review. The HOT Committee takes all eligible applications to the City Council for final allocation of funds.
It is important that your application include all the required documentation to be considered by the committee. Please reach out to staff for assistance or questions regarding HOT funding requests.
